We landed at Cebu airport at around 12.45 and as soon as we stepped outside the adventure began. It was sooo busy with people wanting taxis and hire cars. We went looking for a yellow airport taxi which we'd been advised would probably be the cheapest but after walking down the street, overwhelmed by the heat, and not being able to see any, we went for a private fixed rate taxi of 750 peso, approximately £11. Finally we're on our way... Or so we thought. Just as we set off, we get pulled over by a police officer shouting and banging on the back of the car. Apparently as our driver pulled out he clipped the officers ankle which then led to us being pulled in and the driver was given a ticket.
About half an hour later, we pulled up to the apartments and were greeted pleasantly by a security officer who took our bags for us and led us to the check in office. We signed a couple of forms and were shown to our room.
We got freshened up and signed into the wifi (which is surprisingly good) and then after a couple of hours of updating everybody we decided a bottle of water and a few snacks wouldn't go a miss. We went to the check in counter to ask where the nearest shop is and were shown to a vehicle that can only be explained as a motorbike drawn golf buggy that acts as an open taxi (people jumping on and off). We were told it would be 8 pesos to get there each. When we got back we asked the driver how much, seen as though he took us there, waited for us, and drove us back. He asked for 70! For the first time we felt like we'd been swindled a little bit but when we worked out that it was actually only about £1 we couldn't complain. Definitely need to get used to the difference in cost of living.
Despite the flights being nice and comfortable, between us we barely got any sleep from setting off Wednesday morning till we arrived on Thursday, so by this point we could barely keep our eyes open so a very early night was in order.
Zzzzzzzz
It's Friday morning now when we're writing this and we both slept well :) We're going to go down for breakfast which is included in our accommodation and plan the rest of our day. We don't really know how easily we will find wifi throughout the trip but we'll try our hardest to keep up to writing these blog posts, sometimes we might write shorter daily ones, other times we may write longer ones after a couple of days.
Speak soon :)
